Statement of Purpose &
Objectives
We must consider the only justification for our swimming program is
totally for the benefit of the children. The children should learn
the feeling of being in the arena, how to win and lose with a
wholesome spirited attitude. A good loser makes an excellent
winner. We shall strive for every child to gain from his or her
experience, whether or not they ever win a single race. The total
experience should be an enjoyable one. The program is designed to
not only improve one’s interest and liking for the sport of
swimming, but also to cultivate a sense of sportsmanship that can
be carried into all aspects of life.
The purpose of the association shall be to foster and promote a
supervised, competitive age group swimming program for the
Woodstock and surrounding communities; and to achieve as a
secondary objective, the development of swimming skills through
participation in an age group swimming team that shall be known as
the Woodstock Dolphins.
Objectives
1. To provide opportunities for social and emotional
development.
2. To furnish a wholesome and worthwhile physical and recreational
outlet.
3. To provide an opportunity to learn sportsmanship through
experiencing team competition.
4. To provide educational, training and competition
opportunities.
5. To provide an opportunity for family togetherness and
involvement.
